stage-crew.net is a site for theatre, film, TV etc type people to chat in open forums. If you work in the industry, sign up – it should be good (I hope) and the first few people that sign up should to stage-crew.net should get a free blog (if I get it working)
Well, we have pretty much finished the tour, we just have Brisbane to knock over.
It has been a pretty bloody interesting couple of months I have to say as you would expect there have been some good venues and some not so good venues. I have been amazed with just what some venues can get away with, but then have be re-assured that all is well in the world when I have met some other venue techs who have been fantastic.
Yesterday was a little bit stressfull for us, we had a load out for the sound and LX gear and all the raw metal gear that was being shipped back to Brisbane. The problem was, the shipping company for our gear wanted money up front, something that is difficult to do. I can understand their request, but still – there was nothing even semi organised by them untill they had that cash.
So – we now have a pile of 8 x 4 6ply sitting at Millers Self Storage at Petersham that needs to get shipped to Brisvegas, and I don’t know what to do about it. The reason it is sitting there is because Millers closes at 5.30, our truck was meant to turn up at 5 – but – he didn’t turn up until ten to six.
Well – I will leave that with the trucking company to sort out – I am on the opinion that it is not my problem.
I have to say thank-you to the staff / managers at Footbridge, they were really most excellent. My problems with the venue however would probably prevent me from going back. That place really does need a lot of work. If I was to return there – I would have 2 audio techs, 3 LX and 2 mechs for the load in at least.
Anyway – if I think of more stuff that I forgot to put down on the tour, I shall let you know
Ok, this is kinda kewl – makes it easier to participate in distributed computing stuff…
Well, tonight is the close of our Sydney season.
It has been an interesting week that has pointed out just how important marketing and promotion are to a show. we have had some of the worst houses that I have ever seen.
The really sad thing abou tall this is that the show really is quite good, and it is such a pity that nobody is coming to see it. As people have said before – it really is the best kept secret in town.
I know it has been ages since I have written in here – but I have been a little busy. Sorry about that.
We are in Kalgoorlie today, and I have to say – so far I love the place. I was a little aprehensive at first – but we had an awesome breakfast in the ‘town’ and upon arriving at the venue – all the audio stuff was ready to go – sitting side of stage, LX was completely rigged / coloured all good!
If you are going to tour a show here (here being the Goldfields Arts Centre) then you may want to bring your own Audio rig, the system in place here is fine – just needs a bit of love – and it is a mono-only front of house.
Other then that – Ben is currently focusing, i am sitting in the house writing this (the wireless network seems to work quite well through their walls). And Andrew is on his way over for a meeting.

Ok, so now today I have the flu. I feel like shit.
I think I got it from Ben. No, I wasn’t making out with him… I sit in the van with him.
Just untill i get more time – do not have anything to do with these guys – they are cunts – they are screwing me over – more text with an explanation shortly…
Well, so we performed in Canberra.
Canberra has a very nice venue with some very professional crew. Everything went quite well, I don’t know how anything looked / sounded from FOH but it appeared to be all good.
I really don’t have that much to say, the numbers were a little disappointing but everything else was quite good. We had a relaxing day, Ben and I even got a break. We had a look at the Canberra Playhouse – which looks like a fantastic venue and I would like to put a show in there some time. It’s a lot newer then the theatre and a little smaller – more appropriate for what we are doing.
So, we got to Melbourne yesterday and it is all good. Our accom is a little interesting – but still ok.
We squished everything into a mini-bus tarago type thing and went to the accom unpacked and then headed out on the town. We had an awesome dinner being quite abnoxious and after some initial problems actually getting served, all went well. For those of you interested we dined at the “Street Cafe”.
After dinner – we went for a quick drive, and the boys had a couple of chats with a few people as we were driving along much to the ammusement of other drivers. There were a couple of times I had a bit of an issue keeping traction on the road, but once I was used to the bus it was all good 
Anyway – if I remember I will write something about Canberra, it was good – just haven’t had a chance to write anything yet.
