So, Agile Mobile have decided that they need to charge for their software. I do not argue that they should not be able to do this – but it is a little rude that you have to update your software (a 340Kb download) and then get the warning. The payment for the software is done via premium SMS – a great idea – but I just don’t like how they are executing it.
One option is IM+ made by a company called Shape Services. It is a once off and upfront licence fee, rather then a montly subscription. I will update here when I find something that I actually like.
I really REALLY hope that this doesn’t work for Agile, I really did like their product, but I feel that this really is an underhanded way of capturing users. If anybody has an idea of a petter messegaing program for at least MSN ICQ and Yahoo on UIQ / Symbian phones let me know.
Agile Mobile to charge
